Derek is California native who has worked in the tech and aerospace industry for over ten years deigning hardware and developing software. He is passionate about applying technology in new ways to disrupt existing business models. Derek also works hard to be a loving husband and great dad for his family.
Derek’s main technical interests include controls and automation, RF systems and hardware, and machine learning. He is also passionate about technical leadership, work culture, and team/group dynamics. Derek has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from University of California, San Diego.
Derek is also an accomplished guitarist having played in several bands (The Backscatter Project). He can also be found cycling (road and mountain), running, brewing beer, trading futures/options, hacking Raspberry Pi’s, and generally making stuff.
